Bedroom Farce
by Alan Ayckbourn

Performed on Friday 21st May 1999 and Saturday 22nd May 1999

Bedroom Farce was first produced in 1975 in the author's hometown, Scarborough. Subsequently it appeared at the National Theatre in March 1977, directed by the author and Peter Hall and featuring a cast who gained arguably more familiar fame as Batman's Butler, Miss Marpie, a future King of England, Marvin the Paranoid Android and also father to both Kevin and Adrian Mole. Of course, you may still be at a loss as to who these actors may be or be sharing a yawning disinterest, anyway answers later.
At the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, in the not too distant past, well - I can remember going, Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray took the roles of Ernest and Delia. To say 'that is all I recall', is no great recommendation for the production, but most certainly one for the comfortable seats.
For some time St Martins Players have contemplated 'doing an Ayckbourn' and we think Dave Adams has chosen a very funny play that should be enjoyable for all - of course whether his chosen cast could do it justice is another matter. Some learned words early and steadily forgot them over the ensuing weeks much to Mr Adams' initial pleasure and later chagrin.
Oh! that cast at the National included Michael Gough, Joan Hickson, Michael Kitchen and Stephen Moore, and if you don't know who Marvin was DON'T PANIC!
